The Wal-Mart Foundation have donated almost $10m over the last two years to help US colleges improve their first-generation student retention rates.
HAITI EARTHQUAKE: RESOURCES FOR INTERNATIONAL EDUCATORS

A 7.0 earthquake hit an area near Port-au-Prince, Haiti, on Tuesday, January 12, 2010. Thankfully, the Tsunami Watch for Haiti and neighbouring islands issued by the Pacific Tsunami Alert Center has expired. There is currently no clear estimate of casualties, but the Red Cross has issued a preliminary report and estimate that the earthquake has affected at least 3 million people. We extend our condolences and solidarity to the people of Haiti and to our colleagues in international education.
GOOGLE FOUNDING INVESTOR DONATES $2M TO UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA

A University of British Columbia (UBC) alumnus widely credited for mentoring Google’s founders and helping establish the company yesterday donated $2 million to the Carl Wieman Science Education Initiative (CWSEI).

The Universities Fighting World Hunger (UFWH) e-brochure is now available online at www.i-studentadvisor.com/ufwh. The brochure was designed and created by ISA Media after UFWH won a free e-brochure competition at the 2009 NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo.
KENT STUDENTS RAISE RECORD SUM FOR CHARITY

This year, Raise and Give (RAG) a student fundraising group at the University of Kent, raised over £40,000 for local, national and international charities, breaking their previous record of £21,000.
