Today sees the launch of a new Irish initiative to attract international students to Dublin.
Dublin City Council is playing an important part in this initiative by regularly interacting with international students to ensure their stay is as comfortable and memorable as possible.
International scholarships to the universities and institutes in Dublin will now be called Lord Mayor of Dublin International Scholarships and the Lord Mayor, Eibhlin Byrne will personally welcome students to the new scholarships and to Dublin. Once an international student has completed their course they will be presented with a city scroll, thanking them for their contribution to Dublin.
Peter Finnegan, a representative from Dublin City Council believes Ireland is a fantastic place for international students but thinks Irish institutions need to market themselves better internationally, “research shows that students often pick the country and city of destination before deciding on the institution or programme of study or research they wish to undertake”.
