The long awaited review by Lord Browne into the funding and tuition fees of UK universities has been released, with the most significant element being the suggestion to remove the cap on tuition fees.

The University of Bath recently strengthened links with the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT), China by announcing a new scheme that will allow elite Chinese engineering students to continue their studies at Bath on a BEng programme.

Could the UK be about to see an expansion in the numbers of private universities? They could, according to Paul Marshall, head of the 1994 Group of universities. Marshall believes that we are about to see a shift towards “private providers entering the market place”.
