Following just days after the visit of Chinese President, Hu Jintao, US President Barrack Obama has pledged to double the number of Americans studying in China by 2014. The move was backed by Michelle Obama, who called the proposed increase in exchanges “a key component of this administrations’ foreign policy agenda” in a speech at Howard University.

The British Council announced £300,000 (approximately $500,000) of funding to support a new initiative, the UK-US University and College New Partnerships Fund, to increase relationships between United Kingdom and United States education institutions.
