Students on study abroad programmes in Egypt may have mostly fled the country amidst the ongoing political crisis, but there have been suggestions that perhaps this wasn’t entirely through their choice. There have been reports that many wanted to stay, but worried parents and education providers meant most were persuaded to leave at the first sign of unrest.

Northeastern University, based in the Boston area of Massachusetts, has received more applications this year than any other major private college in area and perhaps in the nation. This surge has been fuelled by a significant increase in international students applying.

As Northeastern University marks its 100th year of cooperative education, the University has committed to an expansion of its signature academic programme by offering a four-year bachelor’s degree with two full co-op experiences.
