Nearly two months after the devastating earthquake which shook the city of Christchurch, killing hundreds of people amongst which were 70 overseas students, the New Zealand government have announced that they are to launch a new agency to help encourage international students back into the country.

Public feedback is being sought on a proposal by Lincoln University and Telford Rural Polytechnic to merge. The New Zealand Minister for Tertiary Education, Steven Joyce, has put the proposal out today, with submissions invited until September 17.
