WHY AUSTRALIA?
Australia has an impressive international reputation for education and is renowned for its laidback lifestyle and friendly people. It’s a safe, English-speaking country with a high standard of living. Australia has much to offer international students:
Recognition and quality
Australia is known around the world for its quality education and research and has produced eight Nobel Prize winners. Your teachers will be experts in their fields and you will learn a whole host of skills alongside your qualification, which will be recognised around the world. There are also strong links between the higher education sector and business/industry.
Support
Australia provides international students with a rigorous consumer protection scheme. In 2000, the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 was put into place. ESOS means that institutions must meet specific requirements for facilities, support services, education and marketing in order to be able to enrol international students. The eligible institutions are listed on the Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS). Please see our Choosing where to study page for more information.
Friendly people
The Australian people are known for being friendly, fun and laid back. You will receive a warm welcome and will find many opportunities to make long-lasting friendships. There is no official religion in Australia and all religions and faiths are accepted, as long as they are not breaking the law.
Quality of life
Australia is often said to have one of the best lifestyles and quality of life in the world, and its cities often feature in the ‘most liveable cities’ lists. Australia has low crime rates, strict gun control laws and limited political unrest. The cities are safe and clean, there is a strong economy and a low unemployment rate. Plus, the weather is generally warm and sunny.
Activities
Due to the warm climate, Australia is a great place for outdoors activities. Sport is extremely popular, both for playing and watching, with Australians being big fans of rugby, cricket, surfing and swimming, to name a few. The country also hosts a huge number of arts festivals every year, including comedy, music and aboriginal arts events. There is also a large number of museums, galleries, bars, clubs, theatres and cinemas, so you are sure to find some form of entertainment suited to you.
