The SAT is a test, administered by the College Board, which is designed to assess your knowledge on a range of subjects that you will need in order to succeed at college. The SAT can be taken more than once - typically students take the SAT for the first time during their junior year, and then a second time during their senior year.
The test measures ability in ten sections, including Critical Reading, Mathematics and Writing. Nine of the sections are scored on a scale of 200 to 800, and the tenth section, which is un-scored, is used to determine fairness and equality on the test.
- The Critical reading section includes reading passages and sentence completion
- The Writing section includes a short essay and multiple-choice questions on improving grammar and usage
- The Mathematics section includes questions on arithmetic operations, algebra, geometry, statistics and probability

In total there are twenty Subject Tests to choose from: Literature, US History, World History, Mathematics Level 1, Mathematics Level 2, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, plus twelve different language options.
