SUNY Fredonia is a comprehensive, selective, residential, liberal arts university located in beautiful Western New York, just minutes from Lake Erie. Founded in 1826, the university is among the oldest in the SUNY system. Fredonia is home to a world-renowned School of Music and over 100 degree programs in the liberal arts, natural and social sciences, mathematics, education, and business. SUNY Fredonia also features cutting-edge programs in the emerging fields of technology, service, and communication.

Nestled on 249 acres campus, Fredonia’s campus combines the best of traditional, turn-of-the-century architecture alongside high modernist design. Campus is alive with fine arts and performing arts events year-round. Cultural, social, academic and athletic clubs and organizations are the driving force behind many campus activities and events.

Fredonia students are very involved in campus activities. Our student newspaper, radio and television stations, music, dance and theatre activities are open to all students, regardless of major. Fredonia is also home to Greek organizations and a Leadership development program. In addition, most of our undergraduate students live on campus in our 14 residence halls.

In the most recent Student Opinion Survey administered throughout the State University of New York, Fredonia’s students ranked SUNY Fredonia at the top in categories including the quality of fine and performing arts facilities, cultural harmony, and the university’s contribution to the growth and learning needed for a career.
